Training for Prospective Care Assistants

St Vincent De Paul and the University of Malta are giving the opportunity to suitable candidates to follow a specialized course, inclusive of theory and practice in the Care of the Elderly. On successful completion of the course organised by St Vincent de Paul, participants will receive a certificate. The University of Malta is accrediting this course as a unit within its Programme in the Liberal Arts and Sciences (PLAS). The certificate may be useful for those seeking to work as Care Assistants. This is an opportunity for those interested to work in the local elderly setting.

The course is going to start on 23rd April 2018 and is spread over 15 weeks. The lectures covering the theoretical part of the course will be held over 6 weeks from Monday to Friday. Sessions will begin at 08:15 to 14:15. All theoretical sessions will be delivered from the Training Centre at SVP however, any Gozitain candiates can follow the sessions from the Training Hub in Għajnsielem.

The practical part of the course will be held over 7 weeks where it is necessary to accumulate a fixed number of hours. Candidates may work from Monday to Sunday from 07:00 to 13:00 or from 07:00 to 19:00 in order to accumulate the number of hours required to complete the practical part of the course.

Applications will be received between Monday 5th March 2018 and Friday 16th March 2018 strictly between 08:00am to 13:00. Applications should be delivered by hand to St Vincent De Paul, Training Centre, Luqa or Għajnsielem Training Hub, Mġarr Road, Għajnsielem.

Each application must include a recent Police Conduct Certificate, a School leaving Certificate, copy of Identity Card, 3 passport photos and copies of any Academic Certificates held by the applicant. Candidates will then receive a letter by post calling them for an interview. Accepted candidates will then be asked to pay the fee of €75 which will be collected on the 23rd April 2018.
