Premju Soċjetà Ġusta is a celebration, organised by the
Parliamentary Secretariat for Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, of the
great deal of work, commitment and dedication being taken by the people
involved in the disability sector. This has become an annual event and it is
being held as part of the celebrations that take place during the week
dedicated to disability, in December of each year.
The purpose of the granting of these awards is to celebrate
the achievements of individuals and organisations that are supporting a
disability rights-based culture. The Government is duty bound to express its
appreciation to all those working towards the creation of a more inclusive
Maltese society whereby people with disability and their close network, such as
family members, carers and supporters, can experience accessibility and
conditions that encourage independent community living. The core principle that
will guide these Awards is to have a society whereby persons with a disability
participate actively in the community.
The awards for 2018 were:
Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Disability Sector
Award for Advocacy and Rights
Award for Active Participation in Sports, Arts and
Culture
Award for the most Inclusive Company
